Upgrade #3:  Spektrum!  While the Traxxas radio works great, I race with a Spektrum DX3R Pro so I like to practice with it as well.  Super simple upgrade, remove bolts from receiver covers, remove TRA receiver, install Spektrum receiver, set-up esc to radio, fine tune radio as needed.  I did move the receiver antenna location to the top on the RX Box.  The Spektrum antenna wire is only a few inches long, so I drilled out the clear lens on the RX Box and Zap-A-Goo'd the antenna tube in place.  (Photos show before and after with both the receivers and the antenna tube location change)

Hint:  I do suggest taking time to rebind the transmitter and receiver after you've fine tuned the radio set-up, so the fail safe is set properly.

I really like the feel of the DX3R Pro.  I'm getting used to, and appreciating, the drop down wheel set-up.  And, there's more tuning options inside this radio than the average guy needs, but they are fun to play with!  Anti lock brakes, traction control, expo's, rates, curves, and more ....

I went with a SPMSR3300T receiver, thinking that the telemetry feature might be nice in the future.  This will allow for heat, RPM, speed, etc ... to be monitored at the transmitter!  Might come in handy for gearing motors, testing set-ups and such.

Upgrade #4:  The Clear Gear cover from Traxxas #6877A.  Who doesn't like to see their gears?  Well, count me in!  Not a big time upgrade, but it does allow me to see how the pinion and spur are holding up.  (Photos show before and after)

I would also like to mention something I started using here at the shop ...  From Dynamite, it's a Start Up Tool Set for Traxxas vehicles, #DYN2833.  A super handy little tool set that makes working on any of the new Traxxas trucks enjoyable and easy.  Includes all the needed wrenches and a ratcheting driver in a cool little zippered tool pouch!  (Photo shows the tool set)
