It's been a few years since I've attended a float fly for rc airplanes...  In fact, the last one I can remember was in Lakeport, sometime in the late 80's!  But, having heard a lot about the quality of the Wine Country Flyers float flys, I decided it was time to attend another!

In typical WCF fashion, the event was excellent.  They host their water based events at the CDF lake just north of Healdsburg, about 10 minutes north of Santa Rosa.  The members had the flight line area freshly mowed and there was plenty of room for everyone.  The CDF lake is picture perfect for this kind of event, the winds were light, the sun was sunning, it was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

The WCF Club invites nitro and electric airplanes to fly, but also allows boats, gliders, and non-floated airplanes as well (grass landings).  So, there's a lot to see, a wide variety of airplanes in all shapes and sizes.  Highlights included:  A pair of foamie Sea Darts built by Steve Cole and Rob Jenson.  Rob also had a Micro Champ on floats!  There was a beautiful WWI biplane on floats, plenty of Parkzone Icon's, many Fun Cub's on floats ... And so many more I forget which is what (see the photos).

Thanks again to the WCF Club for a great event.  Not only did I enjoy my time talking with pilots and watching them fly, but Monday morning I ordered a plane to put on floats and I hope to be more than a spectator at the next event (May 28th).
