05-02-2010

The Ground Pounder Club kicked off their 2010 Club Series with a bang!  140+ entries, wow!  It was a long, but most excellent day of racing.

The race was hosted by Driven Raceway, in Rohnert Park, who allowed the GP Club to use their parking.  This is a great spot, as there are always plenty of spectators and the cross over (from indoor go-karts to R/C cars) is a natural.  This parking lot also allows for a large sized track compared to the others the GP Club uses, something that’s always appreciated by the racers.

Highlights from the day:

26 F1 cars!  This is a new class for the GP Club in 2010, and this was also part of a Northern California F1 Series.  It was great to see so many of these cars running and handling so well.

The Slash class was once again full of action.  Congrats to Charlie Suangka for taking the win his first time out (beginners luck?).

The 17.5 Sedan was the Featured Class for this race, and the top three were racing for bragging rights and 3’ trophies!  Out of towner, James Nelson took the win with a great drive in the main.

Special thanks to Ken Stanfel for the photos.  Check out Xtreme Performance Images (listed on the Links Page)

The 2010 Point Series is under way and the GP Club is off to a great start for this season.  It takes a lot of effort from many volunteers to keep the GP program running so smoothly.  Jake’s Performance Hobbies is glad to be a part of this effort!
