Oval racing is again on the rise in Nor-Cal.  With this brings a better level of competition and deeper fields.  But, it also brings along a wider variance of abilities and speeds, as Racers try new classes, or begin their racing careers.

When off the pace, or getting a car sorted out, please keep in mind that the faster car has the right of way.  Do not race with cars that are multiple laps ahead of you, let them continue on their own pace ...

On the other side of the coin, if you're lucky enough to be a faster car, be patient and pick your place to pass.  It's always better to slow down for a lap or two, than to risk throwing it past another car with reckless abandon ...

Everyone should have the thought in their heads, that we are friends on and off the track.  This means, that racing toy cars should not effect this.  Do for others, as you would have them do for you.  Be respectful of other people's equipment, as you would your own.

Another issue, is talking on the Driver's Stand.  A tricky one this is.  It has to be done without whining or threatening.  It has to be done without being bossy or pointing fingers.  It has to be done with an even tone of voice, and a kind word of thanks.  Speak up, but keep in mind people will remember what you say, long after you've forgotten.

Lastly, please remember to lend a hand!  Instead of complaining about the guy who can't keep his car straight in the straight, walk over and see if he needs a little help or encouragement.  A little goes a long way, and it's only a few minutes out of your day.

I look forward to seeing you all at a race real soon!  Please e-mail me with questions or comments about these E-newsletters!
